The venue has changed for the informal 1969-1970 SHS classes (all alumni welcome, from any year) from the Oxford Tavern (as earlier announced) to the Buzz Inn at Harvey Field. 5:00pm, August 15. If you're planning to attend, please let Class of '69 member Vicki (Smith) Mitchell know at Briteye1@hotmail.com because they'd like a general head count.

Obituary- Sally Jo Davis, Jan 3, 2015

I'm sorry to report the passing of another classmate. Sally Jo Davis died Jan 3, 2015 in Roswell, NM. Sally Jo only attended SHS her senior year, but we appeared in several plays together, and I remember her fondly. We corresponded a bit in the 70's, when she taught school in Rapid City, SD.

Her Everett Herald Obituary is here.

This is her senior picture.

And here's an annual page from one of our plays.

This is the text from the Herald Obituary:

Our beloved sister, aunt and friend, Sally Jo Davis passed away peacefully at home in Roswell, New Mexico on January 3, 2015, after battling ALS. She was 63. At her request, no services are planned at this time. Sally was born in Spokane, Washington to Rodger and Fara Davis, who have preceded her in death. Sally graduated in 1970 from Snohomish High School, where she enjoyed playing the cello. Sally was also a Senior Girl Scout, which inspired lifelong love of the outdoors. Sally graduated Western Washington University in 1974, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in education. She taught at various elementary schools in South Dakota, Oregon and Arizona before her 21 year tenure with Seattle Public Schools, primarily at Whittier Elementary in Ballard. She was passionate about her position as a teacher, and changed lives with her mentoring approach. Sally acknowledged each student's special interests and learning style. She was a trailblazer in education, winning several accolades. Some of Sally's selfless acts included establishing a homework club for her school, and sharing her love of the great outdoors with her students. Sally returned to her own education and received her Masters Degree in education from Lesley University in 1994. Later in 2004, Sally moved to Ramah, New Mexico where she continued her teaching career before retiring in Roswell, New Mexico in 2012. Sally was an accomplished musician, playing the guitar and singing professionally for several decades. She played in a duo known as Spirit Ridge that enjoyed playing at several venues. Sally was especially proud of Spirit Ridge's appearances on the main stage at the Seattle Folk Life Festival. Sally is survived by her three sisters, Kathryn (Kathy) Smith and husband Steve of Roswell, N.M., Barbara Neukirch and husband David of Everett, and Judy Davis, also of Roswell, N.M..
